Menu planning for the holidays!

For the holidays coming up your going to have to start thinking about meals....Make weekly or monthly menu plans, and you’ll find staying organized and eating well is all the easier. Meal planning means fewer trips to the grocery store, a stocked kitchen, less stress at dinner hour and healthier eating. Here are six tips to get you started.

6 Menu Planning Tips

Whether you’re planning weekly meals or big holiday dinners, streamline mealtime with these tips and tricks:
1. Schedule a time to plan. First set aside about an hour or so to create your menu plan. Whether you sit down weekly or deem the first day of every month as meal planning day, pick a time that works for you and make it part of your regular routine.
Tip: When making holiday menus, the earlier you can start, the better. Try to finalize your recipes a month in advance and spend the next few weeks getting all the ingredients you need. The payoff? As the holidays draw nearer, you’ll have one less thing to worry about!
2. Write down your cooking repertoire. Create a list of meals you like and know how to cook. The list can grow and change, but having a collection of realistic recipe and meal options makes meal planning easier.
Tip: create your own cookbook to keep recipes organized.
3. Get inspired. Keep mealtime exciting by regularly trying new recipes, whether it’s a new packed lunch or something different for friday meal night. Sitting down with cookbooks and cooking magazines is a great way to get inspiration.
4. Decide what kind of meal plan you want to create. There are many ways to tackle weekly menu planning. For starters:
  • Create a weekly meal plan of dinners only, or breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Have a monthly plan, with 4-5 dinner ideas set up for each week.
  • Theme weeks around ingredients. For example, the theme could be Tomato Week and all the recipes would use tomato sauce.
  • Give different days different themes. For example, Monday is slow cooker supper, Tuesday is mexican favorites, Wednesday is pasta dishes, Thursday is leftovers night and so on. Having recurring themes helps simplify the planning process.
5. Write down the plan. Organize your menu using our printable monthly menu planning, hang your weekly meal plan on the fridge, tack recipes to a bulletin board calender  or keep it on your computer. Wherever works for you, and is most accessible.
6. Make a shopping list. Create a list based on the meals you have planned. (Be sure to add staples like bread, milk and eggs, too.) With a list based on your menu plan, you’ll likely spend less on food and more effectively use what you buy.

DIY STICKY NOTES

Save money on costly sticky notes and make your own with just a few simple materials that you may already have on hand. Incorporate them into your desk and office supplies, or bundle them up as a gift for your favorite student.
MATERIALS
White or colored printer paper
Paper trimmer or sharp scissors
Glue stick
Thick card stock
All-purpose glue
Shape templates (optional)*
Ribbon or other fun embellishments *Tip: Have fun with your creations by incorporating shape templates when cutting your pads. Simple versions are easiest to cut, so keep that in mind when selecting.
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Determine the size of the sticky note you would like, and use a paper trimmer or sharp scissors to cut a stack of printer paper to the specified size.
  2. Apply glue along the top back edge of the first piece of paper in the pile. Line up the next sheet and apply a strip of glue in the same location as the prior sheet, then press down.
  3. Continue until all the trimmed paper is used and a pad of stacked adhesive paper is created.
  4. Leave the thick cardstock slightly bigger than the pad and affix with all-purpose glue to the last page to create a secure backing.
  5. Have fun with the leftover area on your cardstock or clipboard. Add a small decorative ribbon above the sticky pad or embellish with stickers.
Tip: As an alternative to thick cardstock, glue the pad to a mini clipboard. The hard back will provide a stable writing surface when you’re on the go.

Embellishment Ideas

  • For a personalized look, make the pad’s shape someone’s inital. Use geometric shapes for a modern look or to coordinate with the time of year.
  • Use different colors of paper and color-coordinate to perk up your desk or home organization area.
  • If you’re short on time, you can also use store-bought sticky pads and amp up the fun factor with your own trimming and decorations.
  • If the pad is thick enough, use a sponge brush and a light coat of metallic paint to add a fun touch to the edges of the paper.

My Sport

So i dont think many of you know that i am a full year Rower.
If  you dont't know what rowing is, Please leave the room, dont let the door hit you on the way out.
just kidding. but its one of the most expensive and hard sports out there. this picture above is a quad because their rowing (sculling) with 2 oars. (if it was just one oar it would be a 4 boat). there are 8 boats, 4 boats, quads, doubles, and singles. the quads, doubles, and singles are the only boats that each person rows with 2 oars. the other boats are just with 1 oar. a single can cost anywhere from $15,000-20,000 for a decent boat. now how much does a basketball cost?(; but this sport requires you to run. i run 3-4 miles usually. maybe 6 this year /:
were the sport that wears the sexy spandex and we have blisters all over our hands. and we run up 3 flights of stairs for 25 minutes. and we have 5 am morning practices on school days.

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING DOING ROWING IN YOU CITY/SCHOOL... DO IT. i absolutly love this sport. even though it sucks sometimes and you want to quit. JUST TRY IT. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. ive tried almost every sport (cheerleading, gymastics, soccer, basketball, softball, bowling, tennis, swimming, diving) (litterally).
just look it up if you dont know it, and do it or any other sport you want.
rowing is my life. i got up at 6 am on my summer break everyday for it
if thats not commitment, i dont know what is.

Love you!

Ahhhh spanish 3...The nightmare

So i have pretty good grades so far, A's, B's and one C+. im pretty happy with that right? yeah. sure... i have "connect for parents" (which is basically a website that parents can check in on their kids grades and how well their doing on assignments or missing them) {yeah it sucks} And my mom gave me the password and such to be able to see how im doing without having to ask her everyday. So about 2 days ago, i go on there and im expecting to see my marketing 2 grade rise from a A- to a A+. (which i did(; but thats besides the point)... and under my spanish 3 grade, i have a whopping D-.
DONT FREAK OUT. its okay hehe
we just had report cards and i got a B on it. but i bombed my test, so i was expecting a B- MAYBE a C+, but not a D-.
So ya know im freaking out. and i have really bad anxiety attacks and it felt lie i couldnt breath. So i told my closest friend about it and she is trying to calm me down, and im just freaking out.
of course i wasent going to tell my mother, i mean who would? (dont answer that).
so apparently that website was messing up, and of course i did not know this, so in spanish today my teacher was talking about how it was messing up and how she finally tried to fix it. (ps. were allowed to have our phones out in that class). so i go on there expecting the worst, and i found a whopping B-!!!! ahhhhh i was basically jumping for joy in my seat. all is well in my grades now......
except for that stupid C+ in algebra, which is probably now a C because i haven't done my homework really.

oops.

Love you!
